Tooth replacement is a procedure to fill in the space created due to tooth removal with an artificial tooth.
There are many ways to replace a single tooth which depends on the health of the gums, adjacent teeth as well as the health of the patient.
The following are the ways to replace a single tooth-
Dental implant
It is the most suitable GOLD STANDARD fixed option for replacing missing tooth or teeth. A dental implant is a metal (Titanium) tooth root like structure that is inserted into the jawbone to which the artificial tooth is attached. It preserves the jaw bone without further shrinkage. It is easy to maintain, is long-lasting, looks and feels natural.
Removable partial denture
A removable partial denture is a less complicated alternative to dental implants for tooth replacement. They are made out of artificial teeth and a gum-coloured base. They may be attached to a metal framework in the mouth to keep them in place. Although less long-lasting than bridges and dental implants, removable dentures are attractive and functional. They must be cleaned and removed every night before sleeping. They also cause shrinkage of gums and jaw bones.
